What we collect
We don't track your usage or collect analytics. The only data we store is your Apple purchase ID to manage your subscription.
What happens to your audio
- Recording: Saved temporarily on your device
- Transcription: Sent directly to secure US-based servers
- After transcription: Audio file deleted immediately
- Text result: Copied to your clipboard, not saved anywhere
We're just a pipe between your microphone and our transcription servers.
Your subscription
Handled entirely by Apple. We can't see your payment details — we just get a yes/no from Apple about whether you're subscribed.
Network connections
WhisperBar only talks to:
- Secure transcription servers (US-based) — for transcription
- apps.apple.com — for app updates (handled by iOS/macOS)
App permissions
- Microphone access — to record audio
- Internet access — to connect to transcription servers
We don't ask for anything else. No contacts, no calendar, no file system access.
If you uninstall
Everything's gone. No traces. No leftover files. No data retention.
Your Rights
Under GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations, you have the right to access your purchase information, request deletion of your account data, and opt out of marketing communications.
Data Security
All transcription servers use AES-256 encryption for data in transit and at rest. Audio files are deleted immediately after processing. In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users within 72 hours.
