Plain English. No BS. Let's keep this simple.
🤝 The Deal
You pay $1.99. You get WhisperBar. You use your own OpenAI API key. We don't spy on you. Everyone's happy.
1. What you're buying
WhisperBar - a macOS app that records audio and sends it to OpenAI for transcription.
One purchase = use on all your Macs. Family sharing works too. We're not greedy.
2. What you're NOT buying
- OpenAI API credits (you buy those from OpenAI)
- A subscription (this is a one-time purchase)
- Tech support beyond basic help
- Guaranteed compatibility with future macOS versions (we'll try our best though)
3. Your responsibilities
- Get your own OpenAI API key
- Pay OpenAI for your usage
- Don't use WhisperBar for illegal stuff
- Don't reverse engineer it (just ask us if you're curious about something)
- Don't redistribute it (people can buy their own for $1.99, come on)
4. What we promise
- The app works as described (transcribes audio via OpenAI)
- We don't spy on you
- We don't sell your data (we don't even have it)
- Bugs get fixed when we can
5. What we DON'T promise
- 100% uptime (OpenAI goes down sometimes)
- Perfect transcription (that's on OpenAI)
- It'll work forever (Apple changes stuff)
- Custom features just for you
6. Refunds
Apple handles refunds through the App Store. We can't process refunds directly. If you hate it, request a refund from Apple within their refund window.
7. Liability (the legal bit)
If something goes wrong, our liability is limited to what you paid ($1.99). We're not responsible for:
- Lost recordings
- Bad transcriptions
- OpenAI downtime
- Your API costs
- Anything else that might go wrong
If you're using WhisperBar for mission-critical stuff, maybe have a backup plan.
8. Privacy
See our Privacy Policy. Spoiler: we don't track you.
9. Changes to these terms
We might update these terms. If we do, we'll update the date below. No sneaky changes.
10. Disputes
If we have a disagreement, let's talk like adults. Email us first. If that doesn't work, any legal stuff happens in our jurisdiction.
11. The whole agreement
This is it. No secret terms. No fine print. What you see is what you get.

We made a simple app. We're selling it for a fair price. We respect your privacy. Don't be a jerk. We won't be jerks either.
